The UUCC community invests a great deal of time and energy to act in the world to make it better. We view life as a series of interdependent relationships nurtured by a common love that may be expressed through service to others, with the pinnacle of service being that which helps people to help them themselves.

We serve our congregation internally in numerous ways, by volunteering for Sunday morning tasks, caring for those who are sick, teaching Religious Education classes, and more. We serve our larger community of Columbia and Howard County through partnerships with organizations such as Cradlerock Children’s Center, Rebuilding Together, Beans and Bread, and People Acting Together in Howard (PATH).

Our service to others even extends beyond our local community through our youth social action trips to New Orleans, West Virginia, and New York City, and organizations such as the UU Legislative Ministry of Maryland, the UU Service Committee, and the UU Ministry for Earth.
