We are all Storytellers at Heart – Storytelling Evening
As a step toward greater understanding and building community, UUCC, along with co-sponsor the Howard County Conservancy, presents a Storytelling Evening. The event will be facilitated by Leigh Tillman, a graduate of the UUCC Young Religious Unitarian Universalists program, and a professional storyteller, trainer, and facilitator. Through her work, she has seen first-hand the power of personal stories in building community. Tillman says, “At the very essence of our lives, there are stories. We are sharing them with one another every day. These stories foster connection, put us in touch with our humanness, and compel us to act.”
The event will feature twelve storytellers who have lived or worked in Columbia for a number of years and who have been coached by Tillman. Their stories will weave a rich tapestry that reflects our community and help us better understand the nature, depth, and complexity of our town. By hearing their personal stories, audience members will come away with a greater appreciation of themselves, their neighbors, and their community.
